Spring Fever & Seeing Green

Is anyone else experiencing a major case of spring fever? The weather is GORGEOUS today, but the rest of the week is supposed to be nasty weather and cold again :( Boo…I am so over this winter.

My one little guy the other day said “Mrs. D, I think the Groundhog predicted wrong…this weather is crazy…where is spring?” That sure gave me a chuckle, but I couldn’t have agreed more. Spring come soon please.

In order to beat the winter blues and look forward to spring, I created a cute little Spring Fever craft that I cannot wait to show the kiddos. They are going to have a blast creating it and it will look adorable hanging in the hall.

The poor little birdie has Spring Fever too.

The birdie craft comes with templates to create the craft as well as 3 different spring writing templates and a spring fever word search. You can check it out in my store by clicking on the picture above or below.

This week, we will also be seeing green. With St. Patty’s Day right around the corner, we will be delving into all things St. Patrick. It is such a fun holiday. I never realized it until I became a teacher :) We will working on all sorts of fun activities from some awesome blogging friends, as well as working through my St. Patrick’s Day literacy centers pack.

Our centers this week will consist of:

Identifying beginning and ending sounds:
For this center, students will pull a card and determine if the letter/sound comes at the beginning or end of the word. They will complete the recording sheet for the card that they pulled.

Sorting by the medial vowel sound
For this center, students will have to sort various picture cards onto the correct medial sound vowel bird.

Slide2

Rainbow Word Families
For this center, students will need to sort the words onto the correct rainbow word family mat. 15 word families are included plus 8 word cards for each word family.

Slide3

Before and After Letters
For this center, students will pull a pot of gold letter card and write the letter on the pot of gold on the recording sheet. Students will then write the letter that comes before and after it in the alphabet.

There is a Write the Room activity that is also included in my St. Patrick’s Day literacy centers pack and it comes with several extension activities. You can check this pack of centers out by clicking on any of the pictures above.

  7. To combat spring fever, I find a window that is spreading the sunshine, and sit there soaking up the rays. Reading my favorite books helps, too. Thanks for the fantastic spring creations.
